A new cooperative numismatic project in Baden-Württemberg, Germany helps strengthen the recording and study of coin finds

At present the Numismatischer Verbund in Baden-Württemberg (NV BW) (Numismatic Union in Baden-Württemberg) consists of seven equal partners – the Archäologisches Landesmuseum in Konstanz with the Central Finds Archive in Rastatt, the Badisches Landesmuseum in Karlsruhe, the Landesamt für Denkmalpflege in Esslingen, the Landesmuseum Württemberg in Stuttgart, the Reiss-Engelhorn-Museen in Mannheim, and the Universities of Mannheim and Heidelberg. The aim of the Verbund is to strengthen and sustain numismatics as an academic discipline.

Within the context of the project, which is financed by the Ministry for Science and Art of the State of Baden-Württemberg, that partners intend to further numismatics within the state at the levels of "Teaching and dissemination", "Joint research", "Numismatic collections", "Coin finds" and "Knowledge transfer". To this end the NVBW Numismatic Portal and the E-learning Portal are being developed, the latter in cooperation with the NUMiD Project.
