The European Coin Find Network

Bibliothèque nationale de France, Paris, 25-26.4.2014

On 25th and 26th April 2014, a pair of related meetings was organised at the Bibliothèque nationale de France to explore the possibilities of the application of Linked Open Data approaches to the construction of research tools for the Ancient World. Linked Ancient Numismatic Data is already being used by a number of new projects in the field of Roman numismatics.

The intention in collocating the two meetings was first to explore the possibilities offered by the creation of a dedicated namespace for numismatic entities (nomisma.org) for the unification of such Roman projects, but also to open up discussion of the creation of the similar group of projects necessary for the advancement of Greek numismatics. A particular focus of the second day of meetings was the establishment of a Greek Type Corpus project.
